A very warm welcome by the front staff, made us feel immediately beautiful and confident that we have made the right choice to visit Dr. Athanasiou. From the first moment, we felt that we were dealing with real professionals. Dr. Vasilios Athanasiou made it clear from the beginning that he wants us to have a child from the first attempt.
Having 4 failed IVF attempts in the past (at a different clinic), our level of confidence was extremely low and it was difficult to believe that we could reach pregnancy from the first attempt. We made two IVF attempts in Nigeria and one in the UK. We were discouraged by some factors in Canada and US so we did not try it out. Hubby's sperm quality was declining so fast that is came to near zero. Experts were suggesting that we should use a donor sperm. Then we found out about IVF Centre in Athens, Greece. At the first attempt with Dr. Athanassiou, we became pregnant. We are now 7 weeks plus.

The two things that come to mind when I think of my experience at IVF Athens Center are precision and hospitality. Everyone at the clinic is welcoming, and their attention to every detail is impeccable. Dr. Athanassiou read our long file very carefully and asked questions in our initial consultation that eight doctors at other clinics in the U.S. and the E.U. never thought to ask. Konstantina, my coordinator, answered my questions no matter the hour or day, and always put my mind at ease. She was always calm and reassuring even when I was anxious. The nurses were skilled and had a comforting bedside manner. One offered to do the injections for me if I was uncomfortable (I wasn’t). The waiting room is cheerful and convivial. Our family is complete now, thanks to everyone at IVF Athens Center, but I would recommend it to anyone considering IVF for the first time or seeking a second opinion after failures elsewhere.

My husband and I live in the United States. During the last several years we went through multiple miscarriages. We finally decided to travel to Greece for IVF. We went through 3 rounds of IVF and PGD with another doctor which produced no results. Therefore, we decided to change doctors and contacted Dr. Athanassiou at IVF Athens Center, and ecstatic we did so. From the beginning, we were treated differently than what we were used to from the past. The people at IAC are incredibly helpful, understanding and sympathetic. Every person we came in contact with treated us and cared for us in a manner that we were not used to. We set up Skype appointments with the doctor and staff. They promptly responded to our emails and addressed all of our questions and concerns.
Outstanding and exceptionally terrific is the Chief Listening Officer, Ms. Konstantina. We had been through a lot before we came to IAC, and had a lot of concerns, questions, anxiety and apprehension. However, no matter how much we pressured this wonderful and kind lady, she was always eager and willing to assist us. She is truly an angel. The level of support and consideration she showed us is unparalleled. We spoke late at night, on the weekends, and she never wavered. She assisted us with the medications. She requested our medical file for both my husband and myself. She was the liaison between us and the medical staff. Although we have a 7 hour time difference between Florida, USA and Greece, we would receive call-backs, set-up appointments or receive answers to our emails late into the evening Greek time. They really went above and beyond to take care of us.
The medical staff is beyond reproach. The entire clinic made us feel as a unique couple with a unique issue. We never felt as being treated “the same as every other couple”. The protocol, the medications, the blood work, and other examinations were all tailored to us and our unique issue. One of their midwives even came to see us while I was in the hospital all day receiving a special infusion prior to the embryo transfer. It’s was very unexpected, but so incredibly appreciated.
They consulted a geneticist and a hematologist, they examined our medical history, they addressed our individual medical issues and found the best course of treatment specifically created and tailored for us. And of course, Ms. Konstantina was in the middle of all of it. She conveyed all the information and the needs of the medical staff; and she did it in perfect English. Nothing was left to chance, nothing lost in translation. They ordered preliminary labs and other testing for me and my husband. Our doctors here in the United States wrote the prescriptions and we had the tests performed and forwarded to Ms. Konstantina for the medical staff’s review. They inspected, reviewed and examined us as individuals in order to give us the best gift we were hoping for, a child.
Distinguished from the rest is Dr. Athanassiou. As the “master conductor” we are grateful to him for orchestrating and putting together the “perfect team”. He showed his true concern for us when he employed the team of advisors and consultants to address our individual issue. He is a remarkable doctor. He is friendly, kind and eager to answer our questions. He never made us feel rushed and always took the time to respond to each and every one of our questions. He is a true professional and has a sense of humor as well.
In conclusion, the entire staff is friendly, kind, understanding, and professional. They made us feel very welcome. They were all very attentive to us and gave us the best gift possible…..twins! We are currently 11 weeks pregnant and everything is going well. Please, do not go anywhere else. Dr. Athanasiou, Ms. Konstantina, and staff, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I then arranged a 15-minute skype appointment and spoke directly to Dr Vasileos Athanassiou, their lead doctor. I immediately recognised him as kind, caring and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions. I felt comfortable and decided to go ahead with a donor IVF treatment at this clinic. Well, I must say what an easy and reassuring experience it was! Once you sign up, they immediately assign you with a ‘Chief Listening Officer’, a kind lady by the name of Konstantina. She stayed in contact with me by email throughout my whole preparation phase in Australia; she was clear on what steps to take and medications required, and she was reassuring when I was stressed, worried and had doubts. She was also served as the liaison point between myself and Dr Athanassiou.
The time finally came for the final part of IVF cycle – the transfer, which was done in Greece by Dr Athanassiou. I was absolutely amazed at the professionalism of his whole team of nurses, administrative staff and embryologist. The transfer itself was a reassuring experience and I felt well-cared for throughout, and I even have a photo of the embryos before and after transfer!
That first IVF cycle at IVF Athens Clinic was successful and I now have a beautiful child. I have never been happier.

Being 45, single and not able to conceive using my own eggs, and having had 3 failed IVF attempts using my own eggs, I knew this was my last resort. I chose Athens IVF Centre because of an initial skype consultation I had with Dr Athanassiou. If you are unsure, I recommend scheduling a free 10 minute skype session with Dr Athanassiou – I did this and was impressed with how helpful he was. Because of this I decided to go with that clinic and I am glad I did!

I researched on the most suitable IVF Clinic in Athens for our FET procedure. I had our embryos shipped from London to IVF Athens center and I must say how professional and warm these people are. I commend their transparency and professionalism.
I travelled all the way from Nigeria for the procedure. I was initially concerned about the language barrier but that was not even a problem at all. A CLO was assigned to me and communicated in English. She was so helpful and always available and ensures she follows through.

I will tell you my experience with IVF Athens Center. Both me and my partner live and work in the UK and after trying to conceive for 1 ½ year IVF was recommended . Searching a lot for an IVF clinics both in the UK and abroad (we were very disappointed with the NHS and private care in the UK for different reasons ),a friend of mine recommended IVF Athens Center . After our first meeting with Dr Athanassiou and after explaining everything to us costs, procedures, medication, timeline etc. we decided to proceed with the IVF treatment ASAP.
We were impressed not only with the doctor’s professionalism but also with his straightforward approach. We had clear guidelines from the beginning and the staff was very helpful and well- informed. Another thing that made a difference for us was that our doctor and everyone at the clinic were so positive it helped me to relax. So I truly understand when you are saying that you felt relaxed .Now I am 20 weeks pregnant with twins and I am over the moon about it .

I have just recently used IVF Athens Centre to do a round of IVF using a donor egg. Im currently in my TWW. We decided to use them, knowing another couple were happy with their clinic.
I have found their service to be fantastic & such a better experience than I have had previously in Australia. (Had 3 failed IVF rounds in Australia using my own eggs). Prior to coming to Greece, I used a well known IVF clinic in Melbourne. I found the process to be not very personable & really just felt like a number. I would see my FS in Melbourne at the start of the IVF round & only after it failed! I felt the FS really didnt remember who I was at my subsequent appointments, & I would therefore need to refresh the FS memory on things (even though the FS is well regarded in the IVF field). Whereas with Dr Athanassiou (of IVF Centre); he was there for every part of the process.
He & his team are very professional. They also provide you with a Client Liason Officer. This meant that any question we had, Konstantina the CLO; ensured to get us the answer immediately.
Highly recommend this clinic.

I am a 40-year old woman and I quote my own personal story about the sensitive issue of maternity.
Trying to get pregnant for a long time, I decided to go to a public maternity clinic in Athens to investigate my infertility problem. After having a hysterosalpingography I was put through two cycles of insemination, with negative result.
In order to investigate further the problem, I visited a well-known IVF center in Athens. I was met twice with the chief gynecologist and I left running!! I had the feeling that I was in a big supermarket to shop, not to an infertility medical center.
Being a successful professional my desire to have a child preyed constantly on my mind.

Before going on our first visit to the clinic for our first IVF cycle, I felt quite apprehensive (but encouraged by my husband) and thought it was going to be a frustrating and stressful experience. I have stage 4 endometriosis, which was removed by laparoscopy when I was 28-29. I was trying to conceive for 2 years and before having IVF I tried medication and injections. My first IVF cycle, with egg collections/transfers, was at the age of 33 and led to the birth of my first child, my son!
I regret I hadn’t tried IVF earlier. I would have saved much of the physical and emotional pain endured.
I was lucky to find this wonderful person, Dr Vassilis Athanassiou. Who treated me as a human being and not as just another “sell”, showing respect, understanding and professional wisdom. This is also the case for every member of the staff that I met.

I and my husband had been trying to conceive for 1 ½ year. We had gone through 2 IUIs at a certain IVF clinic in Athens before but we decided to take one last shot at IVF Athens Center. I had a 5-day transfer twice. The second attempt resulted in a BFP.
To be honest I was ready to quit right after the 1st cycle failure. Thanks to my husband, who is that really persistent type of person. I came back 2 years later to have a FET, which ended in a successful pregnancy.
The good thing about the clinic and Dr Athanassiou was; that they spent enough time to see if there was a problem and what the problem was. They never pushed a situation unless they were certain about what exactly to do, how and when. They treated us with a proper blend of human touch and professionalism. I also valued that we were being kept up to date with every single step of the process by the doctor and the patient coordinator.
Certainly, it is not the cheapest choice in Greece but what matters to me is that I got what I paid for. It is definitely worth considering them!

I have a rare translocation of chromosomes that drastically reduce the chances of producing good quality eggs at my age (over 40). I had already tried and failed 7 times using donor eggs but was pleasantly surprised to get pregnant after the first attempt at IVF Athens Center.

I have a six months baby thanks to Dr Athanasiou and his great team!!! First of all I would like to tell you that before I visit Dr Athanasiou of IVF Athens Center, I had visited several doctors in Athens and I had done 2 unsuccessful circles of ivf in another center.
When I visit the IVF Athens Center I was really disappointed and afraid that my dream to become mother will never come true. Dr Athanasiou was really honest with me, he told me about the percentage of success according to my age, but he promise that he and his team would do the best. I forgot to mention that in that period I was living in Evros in the northeast of Greece and I had to fly in Athens for every session. At first everything seemed so difficult and I express my worries in Dr Athanasiou, but he replied ”don’t worry, trust me, we will make it”. So I did, I trusted him and despite the objective difficulties and my worries, everything worked more than perfect… As a result today I am holding in my arms my baby.
From my experience I reassure you that Dr Athanasiou is, first of all a man you can trust and secondly a friend you need!
