    DONOR EGGS AND MEDICAL SCREENING

    We are here to help you find the right egg donor and ensure a smooth and safe egg donation procedure for everyone involved.

    An in-depth screening process is required to ensure that the chosen donor is healthy and eligible to go through the procedure. Furthermore, the couple needs to undergo a number of blood and hormonal tests as well in order to prepare for the donation cycle.

     

    These tests include laboratory blood tests (blood group, full blood count) and tests for any infectious diseases that might be passed on to the child:

     

    • HIV I,II
    • Hepatitis B & C
    • VDRL (Test for syphilis)
    • CMV, Toxoplasma Ab, Rubella Ab
    • ALPHA THALASSEMIA HBA1/HBA2
    • CYSTIC FIBROSIS CFTR
    • KARYOTYPE (ΚΑΡΥΟΤΥΠΟΣ)
    • SPINAL MUSCULAR ATROPHY SMN1
    • GJB2 GENE

    In IVF Athens Center we carry out more medical tests (even though are not obligatory by the Greek Law) and particularly

     

    Donor’s Mutation Screening in Genes For 27 Genetic Diseases

    Legislation on heterologous artificial fertilization

     

    Women up to 54 years old

     

    For all Assisted Reproduction techniques and methods, in case of unmarried couples or single women, a notarial deed is necessary so that they can have access to the indicated treatment.

     

    Sperm donors should be up to 40 years old, while oocyte donors should be up to 35 years old. Only frozen semen samples are allowed to be used.

     

    IVF Athens Center fully complies with the Greek Laws for Assisted Reproduction. The recent law 4958 (law 4958/2022)  is considered extremely important because abolishes the exclusive anonymity of the third donor.

     

    The recipient selects whether to have an anonymous or eponymous donor.
